This policy describes what information Aeon Ascendant and its related services collect, how that information is used, and how it is shared. It applies to the Steam edition of the game and to the optional Arena service used by that edition.

Summary

Aeon Ascendant is a single-player premium game sold on Steam. Optional cosmetic DLC is also sold on Steam. The game uses Steamworks features (Cloud saves, achievements, and leaderboards). An optional Arena mode may authenticate you with Steam and store Arena-related progress on a game server operated by the developer. The game does not show ads, does not sell your data, and does not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

Information we collect

Through Steam (Valve)

When you play on Steam, Valve processes account and gameplay data under Steam’s Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab). Through Steamworks, the game uses:

  • Steam Cloud — Your local save file (save.json) is synced through Steam Auto-Cloud so your progress can follow you between machines on the same Steam account.
  • Achievements — Unlock status for in-game achievements is stored by Steam and tied to your Steam account.
  • Leaderboards — Climb and related scores are submitted to Steam leaderboards. Scores and your public Steam persona (display name and avatar, as controlled by your Steam privacy settings) can be visible to other players.
  • DLC ownership — Steam reports whether you own optional cosmetic DLC (Founder Pack, Super Founder Pack, Buy Kanna a Coffee) so the game can unlock the matching cosmetics.

The developer can read Steamworks data that Valve makes available to the app’s publisher for operating the game (for example ownership and Steamworks feature data). The developer does not receive your Steam password or payment card details; purchases are handled by Valve.

Arena authentication and standings (optional)

If you use Arena features when they are available:

  • The game asks Steam for a short-lived Web API auth ticket (GetAuthTicketForWebApi, identity string aeon-arena) and sends that ticket to the Arena server.
  • The Arena server verifies the ticket with Steam (ISteamUserAuth/AuthenticateUserTicket) and may check DLC ownership with Steam (ISteamUser/CheckAppOwnership) so cosmetic looks can be shown correctly.
  • The server stores Arena-related data tied to your Steam ID (for example standings, ranks, and rewards progress). Arena standings live on the developer’s Arena server, not on Steam’s built-in leaderboards.

The Arena server is operated by the developer for the game. Auth tickets are used only to prove Steam identity and ownership for Arena; they are not used to access your Steam friends list, inventory beyond this game’s DLC checks, or unrelated Steam services.

Information we do not collect

  • We do not ask you to create a separate Aeon Ascendant account.
  • We do not collect payment information (Steam handles checkout).
  • We do not use third-party ad networks, trackers, or analytics SDKs in the game client.
  • We do not sell or rent personal information.

Local settings and saves also exist on your device under the game’s normal user-data folder; Steam Cloud syncs the save file described above when Cloud is enabled for the game on your account.

How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • Run the game and sync progress across your devices via Steam Cloud
  • Grant achievements and cosmetic unlocks you have earned or purchased
  • Show leaderboards and, where enabled, Arena standings and cosmetic appearance
  • Verify Steam identity and DLC ownership for Arena
  • Fix bugs, prevent abuse or cheating, and keep services running
  • Respond to support requests you send us

Sharing

  • Valve / Steam — Required to operate Steamworks features and purchases.
  • Service providers — Only as needed to host the Arena server or related infrastructure, under instructions that limit use to operating that service.
  • Legal — If required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or integrity of players and the game.

We do not sell personal information.

Children

Aeon Ascendant is intended for a Teen audience on Steam. It is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through this game’s services, contact us using the support details below and we will delete it where applicable.

Your choices

  • Steam privacy settings — Control what is public on your Steam profile and how others see you on leaderboards.
  • Steam Cloud — You can disable Cloud for the game in the Steam client; progress will then stay local to that machine.
  • Arena — Optional; if you do not use Arena, the Arena server does not receive auth tickets from you.
  • Purchases and DLC — Managed through Steam (refunds follow Steam’s refund policy (opens in a new tab)).

Data retention

Steam retains Steamworks data according to Valve’s policies. Arena data tied to your Steam ID is kept while the Arena service is offered and as needed for standings, anti-abuse, and support, then deleted or anonymized when no longer needed or when the service is shut down.
